You might have seen in a recent post, that I have now set up The List; gifts accepted, declined and returned. Having started the BCorp process with the team at CydConnects, typical social media is essentially black-listed. It got me thinking about gifting, and the sheer waste created, where even #unboxing has its own movement! ‘Where does it all go?’ The gifts, the sale stock, the ‘last chance to buy’ rails - it all has to be moved on, to create space for new collections. Consider the online returns that are then un-sellable because of the condition they are received back in. After sample sales/ staff sales where does the leftover stock go? Take shipping delays impacting incoming product from the Far East. This will likely create a backlog. Eventually shops and warehouses will have to free up space to accommodate the delayed, inbound garments. As for the unsold stock being replaced by these collections, where does it all go after? (I can guess…) I will receive gifts, and publish a valid reason for accepting (most of the brands I want to promote are small and product is their only means of marketing), but The List is one step further to greater transparency. VCH is tiny, albeit with big ambitions but I hope others will join in, declaring more of what audiences deserve to know.
